These are bareroot trees. Fruit trees are sold as one-year-old maidens, or two-year-old bushes and half standards.
Ornamental trees are sold in standard sizes, which is their girth in centimetres one metre above soil level. The most common sizes are 6/8cm and 8/10cm.

So that's the size of the bush plants that you'll receive through the post. This is a half standard, where the top's been pruned out, so you've got plenty of branches coming up through there, and that's a cherry.

This is one of our 6/8cm standards. So he's about four metres high, and the six to eight is the circumference around the girth of the tree.
