Description

About 'Vyvyan Pennell' Clematis:

'Vyvyan Pennell' Clematis is a gorgeous showy variety producing its large impressive blooms in repeat flowerings from late spring through to autumn, with a break in midsummer.

The beautiful flowers are a soft lavender mauve, with paler midribs and deep golden stamens. The flowers start the season fully double, with the gorgeous ruffles of petals forming tight rosettes, and as the season progresses the flowers become single. If you like to find a companion for her, you can have a look at our full range of Clematis plants.

Great for your garden:

'Vyvyan Pennell' is a wonderful choice for training up frames such as pergolas and archways or against walls and trellises. It looks wonderful when paired with the Clematis's best friend, the climbing rose.

Being quite compact it is a good choice for containers, so it will squeeze into the tiniest of gardens! And it can look wonderful trained along a balcony. It can be grown in the border, either over a structure like an obelisk or using a host shrub as support.

Slime flux can be a problem. Damaged stems can be infected by the bacteria causing a foul smelling ooze from the wound. Affected stems are cut back to a healthy shoot. Infected material should be destroyed. Again, remember to disinfect your tools!
