Description
Heuchera 'Cherry Truffles' (Dolce Series). 2-Litre Pot-Grown Plants
When young, the ruffled leaves of this variety are the colour of a delicious bowl of ripe cherries, darkening significantly over the summer to a deep beetroot. Lovely mounds of rounded, heart-shaped foliage to create evergreen displays in your garden. Light pink flowers appear on tall burgundy stems in the summer. As good for containers are they are for borders.

Growing 'Cherry Truffles' Heucheras
These undemanding plants need a well-drained soil, ideally on the sandy/gritty side, with neutral to mildly acidic pH.
They like some dappled shade at midday: given shelter and moist soil, full sun by itself will do little damage to the foliage, but a combination of full sun, wind and dry soil tends to scorch it.
In mild conditions, heuchera keeps its leaves through winter. Tidy tired-looking leaves each spring.
In Your Garden Design
The Dolce series is made up of average-sized varieties that behave beautifully in a container - of course, they are happy to grow in a border as well. Grow at the front, with golden hostas and Japanese grass, or in a pot of a contrasting colour to make a statement. Also team up with hellebores for winter and astilbes for summer. Would look striking with Lupins behind a Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea'. Contrast with white bedding plants or perennials.
Planting Instructions
Dig in garden compost or leaf mould when planting, in semi-shade. Space 30-40cm apart and water in well. Keep watered until established. Cut down spent stems after flowering. Divide congested clumps in spring and mulch around the crown with organic matter.
