How to Deadhead a Rose Bush

In this example, we are using the repeat flowering rambler, Narrow Waters, but the principle applies to most roses that require deadheading, which means most roses that are popular today!

If a rose variety only flowers once and has attractive rose hips then you typically would not deadhead it; some roses, like the hugely popular Flower Carpet series, reliably deadhead themselves, although it often helps to sweep over the top of the bush with a suitable stick to help knock off the faded blooms.
