About Ashridge

Founded in 1949 with our headquarters outside Castle Cary in beautiful Somerset, we are a high quality, mail order nursery where you can buy plants online safely and conveniently.
We deliver to customers across mainland Great Britain, and to the Isle of Wight.

Because you can only buy from us online and not visit us in person (it's nothing personal), we are able to keep our overheads low and provide you with the best plants at competitive prices.

We went online in 1999, and it went well enough that we incorporated in 2003. 
The newly limited company legally kept our original 1949 name, Ashridge Trees Ltd. 
But marketing decided to go by Ashridge Nurseries in public, until they changed their minds and cut it to Ashridge, which is what everyone working here said all along.

We are originally specialists in woody plants, trees and hedges, the most permanent elements of gardens, farms, orchards, and forestry.
They are mostly delivered bareroot in Winter, with a pot grown selection of the most popular plants available year round:

Since the turn of the millennium, we have worked with the best British and Dutch wholesale growers to get you great deals on a wide range Dahlia Tubers and Flower Bulbs.

We also have some popular tender Bedding Flowers, including Seeds, and herbaceous Perennial Plants to pad out your borders and containers.

A selection of our very best plants are available gift wrapped for any occasion.

Our Big Bareroot Shed

We deliver bareroot plants in top condition at nice prices because we have a very big climate controlled shed that keeps a lot of plants happily cold and moist until the moment they are packed.

• This shed receives efficiently large deliveries from the field at a time, passing all those lovely savings and environmental benefits on to you.
• Our packing shed is joined directly onto the big climate controlled shed, so your plants are bagged up within minutes, then sent by overnight courier, no hanging around.

We provide you with as much information and as many how-to videos as you need to get stuck in without having to buy a pile of new books, although every blossoming gardener is honour bound to read Christopher Lloyd's The Well-Tempered Garden.
We use AI software like Chat GPT, known locally as Kat Gibbet, sparingly in our content, barring some early experiments when it was new and Sharon got carried away.
