How to pleach a flat-headed Lime tree

So, I'm going to show you how to pleach a lime tree, which are useful for aerial hedges to fill in a gap above a wall or to screen some houses, offices, whatever you've got. And so the frame is just made out of bamboo canes wire together in a square shape or rectangular shape. You can have it wider, you can have it shorter, you could have a taller, whichever one you want.

It's basically a square frame, and then put some cross braces on, basically that's it.

Right, so once you've made your frame, offer your tree and the framework together, try to get the frame up to the lower part of the branches, and then wire your tree in.

The main stem goes straight up the mid-part of the frame. So, we've tied the Tilia (x euchlora) onto the frame. We've used Tilia because it's nice and pliable. The branches are bent nice and easy, and it's nice to prune as well. Once it's in leaf and it's started to grow, trim the tips down to the edge of the frame all the way around, and this will fill with foliage. They're useful for putting just in front of a six-foot hedge or a 4-foot wall or whatever, as an aerial hedge or a hedge on legs. With every tree, we always offer you Rootgrow, which is Mycorrhizal fungi, which is sprinkled over the roots, and it just helps the plants to establish as they grow.
