History & Trivia
'Bees Jubilee' was bred by Bees of Chester Nursery and released in 1958 to commemorate their 50th birthday, or close enough: the company was started by Arthur Kilpin Bulley (1861-1942) in 1903 as Bees of Chester Nursery, and incorporated as Bees Ltd in 1911.
Arthur Bulley funded many plant hunting expeditions, particularly to China.
After his death, his nursery and gardens became Ness Botanic Gardens in 1948, gifted to the University of Liverpool by his daughter.
