Great for your garden

Lady Hillingdon Climbing rose trivia

This beautiful rose was named after Lady Hillingdon, a British Baroness who has been attributed as the originator of the phrase ‘lie back and think of England’. She wrote in her journal in 1912: "I am happy now that Charles calls on my bedchamber less frequently than of old. As it is, I now endure but two calls a week and when I hear his steps outside my door I lie down on my bed, close my eyes, open my legs and think of England."

Planting Instructions

Growing Lady Hillingdon climbing roses

Plant between late autumn and spring. Prepare a planting hole larger than the roots and incorporate a 1/2 bucket of well rotted compost or manure. Position plant 18" away from walls and with the union level with the surrounding soil.
Likes sunny walls and a degree of shelter from the wind.
Happy in most well drained soils ideally with plenty of added organic content.
Regular dead-heading encourages further flowering.
Prune in late autumn after flowering.
Feed in spring with a good rose fertiliser
