Grapes for wine and fruit are mostly a greenhouse crop in the Northern two thirds of Great Britain, but they are handsome looking plants and great for casting shade in summer, and there are several varieties that are grown ornamentally with the fruit as a fragrant part of the decoration (and then bird food!).
When planning a grape greenhouse or poly tunnel, remember that the roots are usually planted outside, and the vines grow directly into the greenhouse.
In the South, they still need a good summer to crop their best out in the open, but a sunny sheltered microclimate against a warm brick house helps a lot.
