Description

Moerheim Beauty Helenium Plants

A handsome and upright plant, Helenium ‘Moerheim Beauty’ is prized for its burst of late season colour. Its distinctive daisy-like flowers are burnt crimson with prominent, rounded dark brown centres.

Ideal for injecting colour towards the back of a border. It can also be used to stunning effect in a damp, long-grass meadow. With a clump-forming habit helenium can hold its own within mixed planting, or be grouped as a bold drift.

The bold yet delicate daisy-like flowers are a fiery orange-yellow with prominent dark brown central cones. This compact variety has a branching variety, and, unlike taller helenium, rarely requires staking. Now there is really no excuse to be without this essential late-summer perennial!

Helenium are popular cut flowers. Picking first thing in the morning or late evening (when moisture content is high) will significantly extend their vase life.

Only delivered pot-grown, year round.

Growing Heleniums

For best results grow Helenium autumnale ‘Short and Sassy’ in fertile, moist, well-draining soil in as much sun as possible. They are very hardy and recommended for frost pockets.

Helenium are generally pest free, and easy to grow and care for. You might occasionally need to tackle problems such as leaf spot, but good gardening practices, such as appropriate weeding and feeding, together with our range of organic garden products, will help keep your plants looking at their most healthy and beautiful.

In Your Garden Design

Team this late season beauty with earlier flowering perennials for a successional display. Think lupin, dianthus, delphinium, and papaver for the early slot, echinacea and rudbeckia to take over. For summer-long continuity add grasses and perennials like astrantia, achillea gaura and erigeron.

Did You Know?

Helenium belong to Asteraceae, the daisy family. Other notable members include sunflowers, dahlias and marigolds. Helenium originate from damp, swampy meadows and sunny woodland edges in North and Central America.
